Standards?!?!

What do you think of Heather's air squats
http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/WOD101208_HeatherRunPullSqPull.mov

Her time was crossed out on crossfit.com today.

I think she was just going through the motions rather than bringing intensity. Most of the time she did not break parallel but I still think her depth was 50/50 at standards; but yes her extension was lacking, maybe she wasn't thinking about the explosiveness that intensity entails. She definitely did not look like she was having enough fun, even with that awesome music.

So, when do we start with the backflip progressions?

The vid on the mainsite says if you can powerclean your body weight (I can't yet), you can definitely do a back flip.

It would be great to see us all backflipping like a bunch of ninjas (or gymnasts)

definitely was the wrong choice of words there.

Mandi said...

Woohoo! We need a crash pad...oh yeah and a cool belt to suspend people from the ceiling!

Definitely don't need to powerclean your weight in order to do a backflip, that was a HUGELY aggressive prerequisite. Maybe in order to get it in a single session of practice...

Anybody create a team for the Tough Mudder? If so, what was the team name?

First off - just a personal opinion - I am tired of many of the personalities that CrossFit has trust forward who are constantly portrayed in videos of all types. I rarely watch any videos anymore unless it is a straightforward coaching video. Ok, got that off my chest.

Personal opinions aside, the extension was lacking and perhaps she would've gotten a more intense workout from the full ROM. Or perhaps a full ROM would've slowed her down to the point of damaging intensity. Who knows.

Everybody should know how to do all the movements properly and obviously Heather knows how. To me, the big issue arises when one compares their times with others either in competition or for a measuring stick of progress. If all are not held to the same standard then the comparison is useless or the competition is unfair.

Hi Chris,

The Team name for the Tough Mudder is: CrossFit Diesel

I don't know if anyone has created it yet, you may be the 1st. So, enter "CrossFit Diesel" as your team name when registering - If enough of us enter, we all get a discounted rate.

Also - The Black hoodie is sold out all over, so we'll be printing Black hoodies at a later time. All Grey for now :-)

Yeah Jason, agreed. Jeff Spicoli clones with an attitude.

About the mudder, there are two days to choose from and several start times each day. I can get the team registration done, but I need to know what day and what time everyone can make it. I suggest Sat at 1300 so you don't have to get up extra early to make the 3 hour drive.

I sense a reference to an 80's movie, I think. Unfortunately, for the reference's sake, I did not watch a move in the theater until I was nearly twenty-one and my family did not have a television until I was seventeen. The reference is lost on me.

I ended up registering, but couldn't figure out how to create a team.

Can I request that we play "Smooth Criminal" during this WOD? I always sing it in my head when I see it on the website. :)

Hi Joseph,

I think there are two names on the "Hey everybody, I signed up for the Tough Mudder and am going at X:XX o'clock" sheet.

We have a similar sheet for the Warrior Dash, too.

What EVERYONE needs to know about the races are:

Who is going.
& what time.

The Day is Saturday (for either race)

Bicep curls at Open Gym on Friday! Who's in?!

Unknown said...

Jason,

A: Was your family Amish?

B: I'm in for biceps curls. Seriously.

Jason said...

No sir, John.

I didn't say I grew up without motorized vehicles or electricity.

I need to start filling out those uniform sleeves again!

That's right. It's all about the vanity.

RachelRose said...

Oh, I'd like to order a sweatshirt too, I'd like Medium. THank you!

Vinu said...

Large sweatshirt. Dang i thought Teresa's time would have been a gym record!

Mandi said...

Teresa's time is definitly a Gym Record :)

Mandi said...

Jamison's time is a GR as well!
Way to go everyone, great times. Some really great improvements tonight as well.

Evan said...

Hi Whitney,

We can get you a hoodie, yes indeed.

We ordered 20, and so far have 14 Pre-Orders. This run is going to be in Grey, since Black is currently out of stock.

If we get more orders than we do Hoodies, or if you Pre Ordered and wanted black - Don't fret. We plan to do a run of the hoodie in black a few months down the road. :-) Stay warm!

Ill take a large too if it's not too late.
