Ok, I forgot to post this last night in all the hustle, so here we go. My weight for this week is: 213. Yes, I have gained a pound, but for the record, I was taking creatine. I didn't think it would make that big of a difference, but I was 218 on Monday, from the 212 I started Friday at. I've stopped the creatine, and I'm slowly getting back down. The diet's still rocking, even though I cheat on the weekends. I've stopped scaling my WODs to eating a sandwich, and now I just eat some berries. :)

J, the X is pretty friggin sweet dude, good call.

Just sick, this is Spealler's year.

I've been pulling for Orlando, but I think he's out of the top 5 after that last WOD...

Yeah, looking at the point differential after event 5, it looks pretty bleak for Spealler (also my preferred winner). They've announced that there are 3 more WODs, so the greatest number of points anyone can gain would be 48, and the least is 3. Right now, Speal is 32 points behind the leader, so you do the math.

If there are truly only 3 more scored events left, and the scoring is the same as the first events, then anyone with 81 or more points can't win.

More importantly, though-- the games are about fitness, and one component of fitness that I've noticed separates the elite from the hyperelite has been accuracy. Think Speal vs Khalipa or Salo in event 1-- small guy making every rep count vs powerful guys missing reps because they break form and try to muscle the bar overhead. Or event 5-- how much energy is wasted sloppy HSPU position.

Just my thoughts. I'm really enjoying watching the few events I can, though. Pretty inspiring stuff.

Last individual WODs just announced... In my opinion, they favor the small athlete. Game on.

Over-the-wall burpees... Yay?

That's just ridiculous.

I think we need to build Evan and Mandi a wall...

I now have crazy high expectations for next week...

I can't wait for labor day... the logistics of this final wod are ridiculous, but we should find a way to make it happen!

I am eating pasta for the first time in how long. White clam sauce... mmmmmm... and I don't feel bad about it.

New Diesel standard for push ups should be hand release...

New Diesel standards for burpees, over the wall.

T said...

Absent a wall, our standard should be GI Jane's but chest to bar on the pull up.

I don't think that Spealler can make up now, but I'm impressed with Froning. He's got some cojones to drop 12 feet in the midst of the final event of the Games...

This would be a fascinating WOD. There are plenty of scales that maintain the intensity and difficulty, yet make it doable for a gym without a big ass wall. I have a feeling we'll get a few of these WODs in the coming month.

Maybe we should just go over the bar on our burpee's... that has to be equivalent to a wall...

Chris Spealler took 3rd. All is right with the world.

As the cuts happen, it makes it close to impossible for the back-of-the-pack finalists to gain allot of ground. Speallers biggest down fall event happened when there was a full field. More athlete = a bigger hole. A near last place finish in the final WOD doesn't carry the same weight with it as it does earlier in the competition.

My 2 cents.

Exactly,

Imagine if there was a full field of athletes in the last event. An athletes top spot could shift greatly with a poor finish, VS only a fraction with a field of 16 competitors.

my number on this date should be 220. :/ sorry mandi.
